Halloween Party 2008

This past weekend was the Bachelder's annual costume party. We had a great time dressing up and getting together with friends for an evening without the kids! There were snacks, drinks, darts, ping pong and of course, Guitar Hero on the Wii. Best costume prizes went to the gorilla (individual) and Dog The Bounty Hunter & Beth (couples). Here we are in all our glory! Click here for more.

Catching up

So as soon as I say, "things are slowing down," they speed right back up again. After the yucky flu left our house, we took it easy for a few days, and then we got to work. It seemed as though the fall hit really fast. We had plants & trees to cut back, bulbs to plant, a boat to winterize and get into the garage and misc. yard/house chores to get done before the bad weather set in. Last Saturday (not yesterday, but 8 days ago) we worked outside a lot. The kids were great that day and let us get a lot done. We picked the last of our apples off the apple tree, planted our spring bulbs, and Brian mowed the lawn.

On Sunday, I had to leave at noon to fly to North Carolina for a business trip. I was there Sunday - Wednesday. It was great to be with my co-workers in person, but I missed the family. Brian & the kids had lot of fun visiting with friends and playing with the neighbors while I was gone.

Last night we finally got to do a "cold weather" camp fire. Some of our neighbors came over and we roasted hot dogs & marshmellows and had a nice time by the warmth of the fire. (Too bad I fogot to take any pictures...)

Well, although we don't really have anything planned, I'm sure this week will bring more busy times as usual. I'll try to post about something interesting soon.

Slowing down

Gosh, 1 week goes by since I last blogged and I can't believe it's been that long. Things are definitely starting to slow down for us since the summer is over. We all got that bad flu bug that's been going around, some more than others...Blake got sick last Wednesday. He threw up 4 times and has had really gross diapers for days. Avery had an upset tummy on Thursday, wouldn't eat anything & slept all day, but never puked. I thought Brian & I had escaped it, but on Saturday, he had an upset tummy and then in the middle of the night, I threw up! All day Sunday I couldn’t move. It sucked! I hope we didn’t infect anyone else, but who knows... I think I may get the flu shot for the first time this year. I don't want to do that again!
Anyway, we celebrated Brian's birthday with family on Saturday evening. We made Kalua Pork in the crock pot. You just cook a pork shoulder or pork butt for like 15 hours and the shred it up and serve it on buns or rolls. It's so yummy! And of course we had his favorite, pumpkin pie, for dessert. Happy 32nd birthday baby, we love you!
